Holiday Rewind

So you can tell that blogging hasn't been on the top of my list of priorities lately. I didn't think anyone really cared but myself however I was wrong. Jason and I were talking one day about someone's blog when he said, " Yeah, you need to get busy. You haven't updated our blog forever." I had to laugh. I guess he often checks our blog from work when he is missing Alex or his sweet wife I assume. ;)
Trying to get back in the saddle one blog post at a time. December was a busy month like it is for everyone. I was hoping to fill my blog post with tons of photos however we were so busy we barely pulled out our camera. I know I need to be better however I notice sometimes that when I am so busy trying to capture the moment I forget to to enjoy it. So a few pictures taken on Christmas will have to do.

In December just a few activities we did were... family/friend Christmas parties, dinner with friends in town, visiting Santa's reindeer, sledding, hayride to see the lights at thanksgiving point, lots of shopping, baking, wrapping and eating. Although our month was full I tried to cut back in the have to do this, have to do that mood. No family Christmas cards were sent out which took off some of my stress. I do however plan to send out an announcement once our princess arrives. Christmas was wonderful as always! Jason's parents and sister joined us Christmas Eve for crab, homemade cheese biscuits, green bean casserole, fingerling potatoes, and cheesecake for dessert. We exchanged gifts and enjoyed watching Alex play with his new toys from Grandma and Grandpa. We were spoiled as usual before Christmas day even arrived.
Christmas day started quite early at our house. Between our daughter who has a 3 am wake up and our son who declared at 5 he was awake and wanted to see cousin Shae we didn't get much rest. We decided at 5:30 to get ready and head up to my sisters. After showering, playing with Santa toys and loading the car we arrived at my sister's around 8 for a delicious breakfast. French toast with homemade syrup always hits the spot. We enjoyed the day with family opening gifts, grazing on food, chatting, playing board games and napping. Jason wasn't feeling well so he did spend a few hours just sleeping. We arrived him around 10:00 pm and just got the car unloaded before crashing for the night.
Jason and I received lots of kitchen goodies from a new food processor to many serving dishes and bake ware. We also got lots of gift cards, clothes etc. Alex received loads and loads of cars, trucks, trains, books, puzzles, movies, and clothes. He has cars with tracks, one that has a remote control and lots of little cars. He also got a new sled and snow gear. He loves to play outside in the snow.

"What Dad?"

I love his cheesy grin. Check out his big brother jammies that Santa brought him. Oops, probably should have cut out my polka dot foot in the photo, oh well.

I love this video, it is a good example of how crazy it was at my sister's and how much fun Alex had with his gifts. The only problem was that he got so much he wanted to play with each one and often could care less about opening the next gift.

New Year's we spent at the church with a few neighbors and then retired home early to call it a night. Sadly I rang in the New Year only because I awoke to the sounds of fireworks, rolled over and went back to sleep. Maybe next year will be more exciting. New Year's day we laid low around the house, took Alex sledding and then rented movies and ordered pizza. The holidays were great and I always hate to see them go but next year will be even better I suppose. Alex will really get into the gifts, we will have an adorable niece and daughter to add to the craziness of Christmas. I hope your holidays were filled with joy, family and the true meaning of Christmas!
